Living on the south coast, about an hour from Sydney has given me a fantastic advantage for landscape painting. Being a Plein-air painter, I am lucky to be able to choose from glorious, unspoilt beaches to rural pastures of Kiama and Jamberoo as far south as Nowra and Ulladulla, and of course the beautiful Illawarra escarpment which many times features in the background of my work.
As a child I have always wanted to paint and go to art school when I left high school. Unfortunately my parents had other ideas for me. So my journey has been one of being self taught predominantly, and in earlier years my tuition included a few periods at the Polytechnic in London, East Sydney Technical College, Waverley-Woollahra Arts School and life drawing classes at Paddington Art School in Sydney. In later life my mentors and inspiration has come from well known Australian artists - Warwick Fuller, Kasey Sealy, Allan Fizzell, John Wilson and fellow Plein-air artists.
I am still on this great journey with its trials and tribulations. I've been fortunate enough to exhibit in local art exhibitions regularly as well as Sydney and Melbourne and sell quite a few of my paintings, which is a reward in itself.
Actually - it's a sunny day and I should be out there painting and not writing this bio!
