Gail Sharp expressive realist landscape artist
Presenting the work of Gail Sharp brings the comment of colour. Whether it be in a vibrant high key format or an unusual mix of soft neutrals, they express a strong visual statement. Particularly evident in Gail’s watercolours is her fascination with the effects of layered colour, broken colour and copious amounts of texture. This requires a different style than the usual limited washes of watercolour. Instead Gail incorporates a lot of detail and uses numerous watercolour glazes married with fine line work to amplify the textural nature and ‘soul’ of the landscape. In the medium of Soft Pastels and Oils her landscapes are full of drama and depth by the exploitation of bold colour combinations.
Trained at Newcastle and Sydney National Art Schools with many awards for her works and represented in private collections in Australia and overseas.
Gail describes herself as an Expressive, Realist Artist working with Oils, Pastels and Watercolours. Whilst remaining aware to keep a recognizable image; the element of Realism; Gail is not limited in her artworks by natural colours and textures. Rather she has developed through the use of unusual colour arrangement the emotional content of the landscape. “Expressive Realism takes your breath away at first sight and then leads you on an internal journey to discover layer by layer the vista before you.”
